Wonderful Classic Hotel
We stayed two nights at the lovely Wharf Master’s Inn. The property is located on the bluff overlooking Point Arena cove with a view of the ocean. The new owner is doing a wonderful job remodeling and upgrading the hotel. Our room was spacious, clean and had a lovely view.
The hotel is close to the historic Point Arena lighthouse and has a hiking trial which winds along the bluff all the way to the lighthouse (about a two hour hike). We highly recommend the Wharf Master’s Inn for a peaceful get away in a beautiful section of the California coastline.

Sunset View is Unbelievable!
Had to pull over cause my nerves were getting to me from the drive. So fortunately, we found this little slice of heaven. The staff were beyond accommodating, the views in the morning were breathtaking, there was even 2 restaurants open in walking distance. They had a full library of DVDs to choose from, for our evening hot chocolate and marshmallows. Can't say enough about how pleasant this place was, but I will be back with a longer stay. New management said they were updating the rooms and adding new amenities, so I’m excited to see what is to come in the near future.

California Vacation
We were greeted with friendliness and professionalism even in the middle of someone backing into the building. We are not simply told where the room was, but escorted and shown the room…. And what a room. Absolutely beautiful. The facility is done very nicely. A perfect place to unwind.
Karen, thank you so much for your hospitality. Sorry I missed you the following morning. Your charm and personality made the stay, while amazing on its own, even better. Don’t change a thing. Next time we will all share a bottle of wine.

It’s All About Service
The Wharf Master's Inn seemed very nice online (it really is), but we wondered about all the rave reviews mentioning great service. Now we know why! Karen's hospitality is unmatched. I'm sure it doesn't hurt that she is one of the owners, but I think that her friendly, helpful manner just comes naturally to her. One example -- we've stayed at any number of hotels in recent years that don't offer daily housekeeping. Not a big deal for us for a short, 2-night stay.
Late in the afternoon of our second day Karen called our room and asked if we needed anything like fresh towels or trash removal. I was blown away by the simple courtesy of it and wonder why other hotels don't do this. Maybe she can't do this for everyone when they are very busy, but it was such a thoughtful gesture. And all done with such easy charm.
Other reviews have warned about spotty local restaurant openings during the week. Many seem to be closed Tuesdays and sometimes Wednesdays. She helped us with that, too. The rooms and location at Wharf Master's Inn are lovely, but we felt like this is the way a hotel should treat its guests. I hope we'll be back someday.

Surprise Location
“This hotel and staff was a very nice surprise! The location is fantastic and the view from our lookout room was incredible! The restaurant nearby was closed so we ordered from the Inn and it was really good! This is a little older Inn, but the set up for relaxing (fire pits, outside seating everywhere, corn hole) . Great stay and we would stay again when in the area! Thank you!”

Our New Favorite Spot
“From the second we checked in the level of service was 2nd to none. The owners live on site and truly have a passion for hospitality. Don’t be surprised to see them sitting in the garden having conversations with their guests. We sat down for a glass of wine and a fire in one of their fire pits and ended up talking all night with the owners and other guests. It was the most fun we’d had on our trip up the coast.”

Delightful Seaside Vista

Our room was spotless and set up well with many thoughtful touches, and the grounds were beautiful and well maintained. “My husband and I had an overnight stay at the Wharf Master’s Inn. The ocean view room with its balcony was the perfect place to relax, read, and enjoy a glass of wine. Karen welcomed us when we arrived and walked with us to our room. We felt like we were visiting a friend rather than checking into a hotel. Karen was available and helpful when we had a problem with the tv in our room. We appreciated the information about limited dining options in Point Arena that was included in our confirmation notice. We checked restaurants. Not many were open on a Tuesday night, so we came prepared.”
